Thanks for the report. First, my usual disclaimer: you’re using seriously underpowered hardware for HBUP and you’re not going to get an optimal experience. It’s certainly your choice, but you’re going to run into a lot of latency-related issues. Pi hardware/software is simply not meant to handle the level of realtime transcoding and responsiveness that HomeKit requires. It might work for a camera or two, but if you’re using multiple cameras from G4 and above series, particularly at higher quality levels, you’re going to run into issues.
Second - person (or any object) detection, as seen by the Protect controller, occurs when the controller passes that information along when it’s detected. Yep, Protect controller 4.x can be flaky at times…we can only work with what Protect provides I’m afraid.
Unsatisfying…but unfortunately there’s not much more I can do about this one.
Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. I will purchase a Mac Mini. Will a simple backup and restore of my plugins work?
I appreciate your work!
Best,
James C DeMircift

@hjdhjd can you provide more info on this please?

I've never had any reliability issues with the Protect controller passing events to HBUP, even with 4.0.6, until I recently updated to 4.1.x (which is still in EA, hence not opening an issue about it). But I'm curious about your statement; what changed with 4.x in general? Is there anything you've seen that can trigger the Protect controller into doing what it's supposed to?

Describe the problem
Since version 4.x.x some cameras do not pick up any detections even though Smart Detections are enabled. I can see the contact sensors on HomeKit but walking by some cameras doesn't trigger any activity. This mainly happens on G4 Domes I have. Some of my G5 Pro's work and others don't. Its very strange.
