Invalidate dates that are before the existing time

We do not believe it is necessary to invalidate dates, as users can use this to keep track of past-due assignments as well. It makes more sense to allow the user to input any date they desire, so long as the date exists, rather than deciding an arbitrary cutoff.

I see, it's good that your team considered this. However, considering how many assignments an individual has, and since the user in your minds value keeping past assignments, I'd suggest at least appending an archived flag, or listing our archived assignments. Otherwise it's going to be very cluttered.
