The purpose of this thread is to have discussions around Detoxify and understand the maintainer's perspective on how/ if/ when they envision their idea to turn into reality, so that contributors can add value in the most appropriate manner.

Idea:

Detoxify - Give access to your user account. Surf their YT with a lot of content in whatever niche they want their feed to turn into. Revoke access by the end. $5 per surf.

Approach:

• User signs in using google (Appropriate YT access from OAuth consent)
• User enters a niche, language of choice,
• We show the regular Paisa de, tamasha dekh screen (5$)
• Detoxify notifies to the user - Bro, give me sometime. Let me do this in the background. (optionally engage the user with some game or a puzzle. this ones trending a lot lately: https://www.linkedin.com/games/queens/)
• Detoxify goes to the backend, spawns a new process - runs the following pipeline
• pipeline1: Uses Gemini to find a list of top X videos on a topic, sends this to pipeline2
• pipeline2: web-scraper masquerades as User, opens all the X videos, closes them, logs out. db entry to notify hogaya.

Questions:

1. What metric does one use to decide if the app succeeded in it's efforts to turn niche feed ?
2. Where should the Youtube surf ideally happen ? in front of the user on the client side or invisible to the user on the server side ? If we show it to the user, it builds credibility. Haan, sach main app kuch kar raha hain. But, then there are browser specific settings that the user will need to adhere to make it work.
3. What are next steps like ? 1. Will you be setting up the codebase and then we can contribute ? or 2. Can one of us set up the codebase and then you will guide us in the right direction ?

Before answering your questions, I'll make you aware of my perspective on this application

• A single word isn't enough to define someone's genre/niche that they want to censor or remove from their feed, instead of they can get pre-defined tags or pre-uploaded sample videos of a particular category so that the user will have a good idea of what he/she don't want to see specifically.
• The price per surf is too high, my per surf is more than a K for sure, it should be less than 2 dollars, so that we'll have more users for this application

By the way, I won't be answering questions rn, I'll answer them before I get some views on my perspective.
