@SmalsJulien : identifier is a standard searchparameter, so a new searchparameter is not necessary. You can check the result on the earlyadopter branch: https://build.fhir.org/ig/hl7-be/referral/branches/earlyadopter

Please find bellow the updated proposition for the short ref code

The proposition of short code is 4 alphanumeric characters + 2 hexadecimal characters for the checksum. This short code will always be used with the SSIN of the patient and the additional checksum will provide a collision rate of 0.39% (which is really acceptable).
