Vacuum the database
Index for sqlite (topic_id on data table)
Increase page size cursor.execute("""PRAGMA cache_size = -100000;""") https://sqlite.org/pragma.html#pragma_cache_size

The performance issue is because we open/close physical connection for every request. Chandrika is looking at a way to share connection across queries.
