What steps will reproduce the problem?
 1.No idea...
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
See any map
Map seems to be covered by a black layer

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
version 0.8.0.5
Win 8.1

Please provide any additional information below.
I've been downloading pretty much google hybrid tiles and it was working fine.
Suddenly gmapcatcher comes with this black map area.
I can see tiles loading if I force update, but they seem to get covered by a
black layer right after beeing loaded.
See screenshot here:

I uninstalled, restarted windows, reinstalled but the problem remains.
It does the same thing with any kind of map (not only G hybrid).
Please help, I was counting a lot on gmapcatcher for my holidays into the wild !

Google maps are no longer supported, and Google actively blocks download of
their map tiles, I will recommend you to use a different map server.
try Nokia see what it looks like

Thanks for your answer !
I juste checked again and I guess I should apologize and bang my head against
the wall.
It was the small "box" under the scale on the left side that was showing 7
instead of 0.
So no problem !
But what is this "darkening tool" meant for ?

hybrid maps are combination of:
- regular satellite tiles
- transparent tiles with all the labels

I thought that it was the transparent tiles not downloading correctly...

But that darkening tool is meant to help with night time usage of very bright
displays
