Should we change the retention policy for ECR? #34

On Thursday, production failed because the production released was removed as part of the 200-limit retention policy of ECR repositories. When our development & release cycle was fast, this was not an issue. Due to the merge, we were without releasing around 3 weeks, plenty of time to fill that buffer. Should we change that policy?

Also, there's a lot of images simply named -. Relating to these images. Alex mentioned that they are probably related to the new caching mechasnim introduced. That probably helped to fill our limit faster than expected. More details: https://this-is-biomage.slack.com/archives/C0250TDU1PF/p1693504007032809?thread_ts=1693465756.903819&cid=C0250TDU1PF

Goal

  1. Decide whether we should change the retention policy so that production images are never deleted
  2. Investigate what are the images named -.
