I think Nils wants us to host our own copies instead of pointing to 3rd parties? (I don't care strongly.) If we do host, probably a separate s3 bucket instead of adding it to the site?

@ngehlenborg : Before I launch into this, can you confirm that

We should host our own copies of all the pdfs?
and it makes sense to set up a new s3 bucket for this? (Images are one thing, but putting all the pdfs in the repo would be out of hand, I think.)
