Issues relating to Background section

[x] In the sections on the four families, the footnotes need to become links.
[x] Under the heading "The S_r Lambda^k family": right after the first displayed equation is a script H with subscript "r,l". The "l" should be in the same font as the other ones in that section. (Apparently we missed that on the poster.)
[x] Digits in the text, like the "2" in "in 2 dimensions" and the "3" in "3-dimensional space" have been set with latex and mathjax. It would look better if they were just set in HTML, so there is not a font change. These are not really formulas. I count 6 of these.

Excellent. I just noticed the first (the footnotes not becoming links) a moment before this came in.

[x] One more: The links in this section are the footnote numbers in the text and the references themselves. For both of them I find the underlining distracting (in fact I generally find it distracting to underline links, when they are already colored).
