Is this by design since the DangerSPL needs to be flashed before the 5.x rom
can be applied? Is there a way to only show the 5.x roms if the DangerSPL is
already applied? Thanks!

I just found out this link. Looks like there is a separate process to upgrade
from 4.2 to 5.x ROMS. I guess thats the reason CMUPdater is not detecting the
new ROM. I am going to try this and see if it works.

It worked. I am now running 6.x on my G1 . Amazing. I just followed the steps
mentioned for 4.2 to 5.x but just used the latest 6.x image and latest google
apps given on the cyanogen website.

this isn't for going from 4.x to 5.x. this is for seeing other 5.x roms AFTER
you've already upgraded to 5.x.

I know I am saying I used the procedure described in
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Upgrading_From_CM_4.2_or_other_roote
d_ROMS_to_5.0.x%28Dream/Sapphire%29
and upgraded my 4.2.x to 6.0 directly instead of doing it for 5.0.x by using
the binaries in the link

the newer builds are currently only available for the nexus one, cause you
have to install another bootloader on the G1 and i haven't figured out how to
check if this one is installed

@saikyt: nothing to get... anyone can find that on cyanogenmod's homepage and
wiki.
@FireFart: okay, so this is (in a way) not a bug but by design. is it possible
in the API at all, i wonder... too bad i don't really have the
time/concentration to look into that myself. :D
Thanks for the hard work, FireFart!
