Introduced an enum to have better type safety cleaned up the code and based some code on the type directly

Since there were some overlaps with https://github.com/hoarder-app/hoarder/pull/253 that would result in a conflict when merging them after each other, i have rebased this PR onto the other PR and resolved the conflict. Merge the other PR first.
