awful error message displayed if not rooted #3

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Unroot your phone
2. Start the application
3. Click one of the off, dim, or bright buttons on the main screen of the 
application

Expected Results:
Error message indicating that phone must be rooted is displayed

Actual Results:
A horribly long, meaningless error message is displayed
