Add React suspense, general cleanup #363

This is a general cleanup and dependency upgrade, plus some preparation for moving data away from git repository (and wepback bundle) to a standalone hosting.

[x] add React Suspense
[x] add React Error boundaries
[x] upgrade dependencies
[x] refactor and simplify data fetching code
