My recently added error handling unfortunately ignored the errors which indicate that linking or registration is required, This commit should fix that

Thank you for your contribution. Right now I have no time to spare to test it. Nonetheless, I did a manual merge onto dev. Unfortunately, github does not reflect it and now this pull request looks like it was declined. Very unsatisfying.
