Thereby allowing followers to only retrieve mews which are relevant to them.
For example if @zippy has a party at his house tonight and posts an invite to all his Clutter followers it is not really relevant to those that are not in his city.
If every post (mew) was geo-tagged followers would be able to filter out mews which were not relevant to them (if they liked) in order to reduce noise.
