This task is two parts:

Making the database
Connecting the database to the application (this will not occur at the same time as the application framework needs to be set up in a separate task)

[x] Create the application database in firebase console

This blocks #23 , #24 , #25 .
[x] Add plugin code to the application to communicate with the database (when ready)
