icloud drive issues #184

Open sDC2 opened 3 years ago

sDC2 commented 3 years ago

I used to have a carnet plus folder on my icloud drive. This forlder however wasnt't accesible from my phone, but only ipad. Now it also disappeared from the ipad. This is inconvenient because I cannot share work between various devices like this and and I lost the little hobby project in the process.

holzschu commented 3 years ago

Hi, you're the third or fourth person to report the issue, so I'm taking it very seriously. It's a bit more difficult to solve than usual because I cannot reproduce it on any of my devices. The next version will include hardened iCloud management, which should (according to Apple's developer manual...) resolve the issue.

What I can say:

sDC2 commented 3 years ago

Hi Nicolas, Thanks for your reply! In the mean time, half the problem is solved by the "On/Off" method (i fear the day the captain will announce that he needs to restart the plane at flight level 320). This means I do have the iPad linked again. However, the same didn't work for the phone, it simply doesn't show the folder there and never did before... The issue remains, but less critical....

Hi, thanks for the report. I'm glad the glass is now half-full (even if I still have no idea what's happening).

Hello, I also noticed issues with files stored on iCloud. Have a look at these notebooks (https://gitlab.com/healthcare2/process-mining-tutorial). When I store files « on my iPad », it runs like a charm. When I store it on iCloud, it miserably fails with the csv data file not found. I noticed, without certainty, that the file extension plays a role. When the type is known from iCloud (for example, csv), extension appears stripped by iCloud. When file extension is unknown, let us say .rnd, it… always the first time, and then sometimes works, sometimes does not find the file after. P.

I too have this problem. I uninstalled Carnets, prior to that I had the iCloud icon on Mac as well as iPad & iPhone. I installed SCI, lost the icon. Deleted it and reinstalled the standard version, no icon reappeared. Unable to save files to iCloud. I tried restarting the device after deleting the app and then reinstalling, also made sure I deleted the folder iCloud~AsheKube~Carnets on the Mac. Tried turning off and back on in iPad settings as suggested above without success???? You mentioned a new version, when will that be out?

devleaks commented 3 years ago

I did not go in all the details, but I had the exact same bahavior as mdecaro.

  • The files and folders haven't disappeared, iOS is just not showing them. Once the issue is solved, they should reappear.

In Mac Terminal, the following command will expose the content of the hidden iCloud folder: open ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/iCloud~AsheKube~Carnets I can grab all my files from this folder, but had no luck unhiding it.

sDC2 commented 3 years ago

This time it looks like the folder has really disappeared. It is also no longer visible at icloud.com...

Any progress on getting the Carnets iCloud folder to show? Not being seen in IOS/iPad or Mac. I upgraded to iOS 15, I thought that might help - no luck.

holzschu commented 3 years ago

My latest build of Carnets is stuck on Apple's side in "(Processing)" mode (meaning neither accepted nor rejected), and has been stuck there since July 5th. All subsequent builds are stuck in the same mode. Multiple calls to Apple Developer Support have, so far, failed to change anything. At this point, I do not know when I will be able to publish an upgrade to Carnets: a process that should be straightforward and take 1-2 days is taking 2+ months.

Sucks! Thanks for the quick reply.

Well, at least Apple Support has agreed that the situation is not normal...

mdecaro commented 3 years ago

Do you think that means they don't really know exactly what the problem is?
