Renaming Matter entities can cause ALL Matter devices go to offline #103266

The problem

Often, but not always, after I commission a Matter device to Home Assistant and then rename the device's entities the Matter server appears to die. By die, I mean ALL Matter devices cease to function or show state change. Any automations based on Matter device triggers stop working. If I "reload" the Matter service then the battery state for all Matter devices goes blank, as a clear visual indicator that Matter is having issues.

My resolution to the issue is to do a full HAOS reboot, after which everything works as expected. This has happened off and on for months, so it's not new.

In the uploaded diagnostics data, skip down to the end of the log to 9:20am on 11/2. You can see a number of Matter related errors:

Here's a screenshot after an entity rename and a Matter server 'reload'. Note all battery status is blank except for one. All Matter devices except for 3 should have a battery status.

I just installed the Matter [BETA] integration last night as a way to get my Aqara M2 Hub into HA. I was able to add it successfully and get my six temperature/humidity sensors and one motion sensor into HA. This morning I renamed the device/entities and all sensors stopped updating in HA. Nothing in the log books for any of the sensors after the rename. Restarted HA and all sensors started updating in HA again. Basically a plus one for the original issue posted. I am running HAOS as a VM on a Synology DS918+ NAS.
