Sonoff SNZB-04 Sensor - Not available within HA even when connected to a Zigbee hub #109148

Closed MikeBookham closed 6 months ago

MikeBookham commented 8 months ago

The problem

The 'Sonoff SNZB-04 - ZigBee Door/Window Sensor' does not show up in the HA device/entity list.

I have successfully registered this device with a Zigbee hub (IKEA Dirigera) and it 's status is correct via the IKEA app. All other devices that are registered to this Zigbee hub are shown correctly within HA.

There appears to be an issue within HA core with this specific device because others have also reported similar issues, however the 'issue' has been allocated to the integration mentioned whereas it is a more fundamental issue effecting multiple integrations within the core of HA.

See issue #99693.

You have not posted enough information here for us to help you. What integration are you using would be good to start with? Do you have a screenshot, of both a working and the not working device?

If you had the courtesy to read the problem description, then you would understand that this is not integration specific, also there is nothing to show because again if you had read the decription, there is no working device to show.

It is likely that you will respond, that without further details you cannot help, however there are no futher details available.

https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/99693 is a clear issue where the Sonoff sensor was added to HA using the Tuya integration. The Tuya integration does not seem to properly support that sensor and a fix would have to be made for the Tuya integration in that case.

I have successfully registered this device with a Zigbee hub (IKEA Dirigera) and it 's status is correct via the IKEA app. All other devices that are registered to this Zigbee hub are shown correctly within HA.

Okay, so you use some kind of integration for the hub to link to HA. It doesn't seem to be the Tuya integration, but maybe the HomeKit Controller integration (or already the Matter integration) to link your IKEA hub to HA? We need that information. Nobody will be able to help you otherwise. You can find the integration you're using on the device page of another device that correctly shows up in HA that's also paired to the IKEA hub (just like the missing Sonoff sensor).

There's no general issue with the SNZB-04 and HA. You can use it just fine with the Zigbee (ZHA) integration in HA, via MQTT and Zigbee2MQTT, or even with deCONZ, ...

Understood, it probably is the HomeKit Device, however due to another issue I also no longer have access to any Home Assistant UI. I just have access to the CLI via ssh The system is obviously up and running because I can issue HA commands via CLI and also my Unifi add-on is running because I can access that GUI via it’s own interface. I have been Googling this 2nd issue and it has the same symptoms as an integration that has crapped itself. I hadn't changed anything for about a week, so it looks like an auto update or a auto backup is the cause. Once I can either get the UI back up or work out how to list the intergrations, then I update this issue further. I have purchased other makes of Zigbee contact sensor to try determine where the issue lies, but again cannot do anything until I get the UI back up and opwerational.

It looks like I'll have no update to this issue for a while because I cannot fully recovery my system from any of my backups. It appears that the update to core-2024.1.6 has corrupted the Frontend of Home Assistant. Next I'll try an update of the OS via the CLI.

There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates. Please make sure to update to the latest Home Assistant version and check if that solves the issue. Let us know if that works for you by adding a comment 👍 This issue has now been marked as stale and will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.

Hi, unfortunately the problem still persist again, even if the new core version and also with tuya or smartlife integration. Please feel free to ask me what you neeed to debug it... Thanks a lot Stefano

Why you closed the issue while is not yet resolved?

MikeBookham commented 6 months ago

Agreed, it is not resolved but this is the way HA is managed, they close issues and declare them as fixed.

I'm done with HA for the foreseeable future, so cannot be bothered wasting my time trying to help improve it with their attitude.

stepini commented 6 months ago

I think I'll stop using it because it makes no sense, I have many sensors of this type .. I'll have to use smartlife :(
