Speed test configuration works only with servers from Germany when using Tailscale #109179

Open simacekjakub opened 5 months ago

simacekjakub commented 5 months ago

The problem

I am from Czechia and Speed test integration configuration works only with servers from Germany when I am connected to Tailscale VPN. When set to Auto select, it automatically chooses German server. When I choose manually any Czech server, it says "Failed setup, will retry" and the entity output is "unavailable".

Also, sometimes it offers to choose only from German servers, sometimes I can see Czech or Polish servers too, but neither of them work.

Up for this as this is not only when using VPN. I have the same experience without using any VPN.

Sometimes it allows me to set Czech server but with next mesurings the integration fails.

brebtatv commented 3 months ago

I don't use a VPN and have the same problem. I'm also from the Czech Republic.

There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates. Please make sure to update to the latest Home Assistant version and check if that solves the issue. Let us know if that works for you by adding a comment 👍 This issue has now been marked as stale and will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.

Hey, it actually was working for the last like two months and it stopped to work recently. So the problem is actual, again.

Dillton commented 1 week ago

Hi @simacekjakub and @brebtatv. If you have some place where you can run dockar containers you can go for this solution instead. https://github.com/alexjustesen/speedtest-tracker

It's working super great on my side for 2 weeks now. image

All you have to do to get the data to HA when container is deploayed is to create REST sensors.
