The same SSH Protocol. I don't have any Asus Routers and use integration with dnsmasq (Pi-Hole) and device id is always the MAC address and not the hostname
There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates. Please make sure to update to the latest Home Assistant version and check if that solves the issue. Let us know if that works for you by adding a comment đź‘Ť This issue has now been marked as stale and will be closed if no further activity occurs. Thank you for your contributions.

Using ssh to connect to my AiMesh network (3 Asus-XT8)
Hi All, I just bought a new Asus RT-AX5400 to replace my old fritzbox, but I don´t get proper device tracking working on it :(
Any tips on how to get this working? Was there an old version that was more stable? Please let me know if I can help with testing or debuglogging.
The HTTP device tracking is way less precise than SSH one (while the SSH one has other issues that I’ll not discuss here). Devices remain in “at home” state even if they’re gone from hours sometimes.
If I open manually the devices page in the router dashboard it seems to cause a refresh of the connected devices that updates the states to the correct ones most of the times.
There’s a way you could improve its precision?
I will try to investigate this. It is probably only related to some specific device model because I don't have this issue at all. Please provide detail about model / firmware that you are using.

If it can help, my model is RT-AX58U. Thank you!
Has anyone had any progress on this issue? I’ve been having it with my RT-AC87U running Merlin for some months now.
I changed to http protocol, and it is far more stable in my situation.

To add more context to this issue: it happens with devices connected via Ethernet cable to the RT-AX58U.
The problem
If I disconnect from my home wifi, ASUSWRT still says (after few minutes) that "Home" and then Away after a while and keeps doing this, even though I'm not at home and not on wifi. It does the same with another phone.
