Documentation doesn't explain how to setup a map #116586

The problem

The previous HACS integration provided documentation on how to setup a custom map using a google maps aerial photo:

As this new integration also has a device tracker for models that support that the documentation should explain how to setup a custom map too.

+1. This is the feature keeping me in the HACS version, despite the fact that it started crashing the whole HA instance once per day from HA 2024.6

Has anyone found a solution? For me the old integration has stopped working, but I have not found a way to set up a custom map image with the new. 😢

The old HACS integration started crashing for me also. I'm working on adding the map image and zones back into the core integration. It will probably be a custom component for a while or maybe going forward. I'll post on the forums when it's ready for testing. I'm putting the mower up for the winter this weekend, so don't expect anything too soon.

This is really good news! I have the same situation, so will be interested in and extremely happy to test drive anything you come up with in the spring.
