The problem

I already add to home assistant Matter over thread devices smart plugs from Onvis, bulbs from Nanoleaf and devices behind ZigBee Tuya agateway like bulbs or moisure sensors. But when I'm trying to add motions detectors always have an error. Is there an issue with the Matter service in home assistant with sensors ?

Thank you, Paulo

Hey there @home-assistant/matter, mind taking a look at this issue as it has been labeled with an integration (matter) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks!

Motion sensors work fine with the HA Matter integration. You are also not very specific in your report. What is happening? What errors did you see, what did you expect etc, etc

Without more info I cant help you.

Hi Marcel, So, I add the Eve and Onvis Motion sensor in iOS device vendor application that uses the Apple home to add them. And I can see information about motion and other sensor provided like Lux levels.

The next setup just like any other Matter device is to select it in Apple home and in the preferences Turn On Pairing Mode, which provides me a Setup Code.

Now I open Home Assistant in that iOS device and go to Matter in Device and Services, select devices and select again Add Device.

Now I say that “It’s already in Use” and select Apple Home and Paste the code that I got from Apple Home App

Get an message in the bottom of the application saying “Failed to add the device”

Just to mention that already have a couple of matter devices Smart Plugs, Bulbs and Zigbee Gateway.

I’m very new to Home Assistant how can I provide more information to troubleshoot this problem 😊 ?

Thank you, Paulo

In Home Assistant network settings, make sure that IPV6 is enabled/checked. Just setting it to "automatic" should suffice.

PauloJorgeCorreia-personal commented 1 month ago

It is already set, without it the other 13 matter devices would not work.

Thank you, Paulo

Is this the first Matter over Thread device you add or did you already more Thread devices to HA ?

Well, the error you now got is super generic. I would need to see the log of the Matter Server to have more details. Try to add the device from Apple Home to HA and after that go to HA Settings --> Add-ons --> Matter server --> Click Log

paste the contents of the log in a file and then add that file here so I can have a look
