Certain Tuya bulbs not showing up. #25163

Closed maxi1134 closed 4 years ago

maxi1134 commented 5 years ago

Operating environment (Hass.io/Docker/Windows/etc.): Hass.io running on a docker on Ubuntu

Component/platform: https://www.home-assistant.io/components/tuya/

Description of problem: I've just purchased 3 tuya bulbs that do not show up with the tuya component. All of my other tuyas things work properly.

Problem-relevant configuration.yaml entries and (fill out even if it seems unimportant):

tuya:
  username: ********
  password: ******
  country_code: 1

Additional information: The bulbs in question: https://www.costco.ca/Globe-Electric-LED-A19-RGB-Smart-Wi-Fi-Bulb.product.100483522.html

I bought teckin (tuya) bulbs and one works great with rgb control. However, the other is being reported back by tuya as a switch which only allows me to turn it on and off. This thread has been dead for a long time -- did the issue get resolved for everyone?

I'm facing this same issue with a Wipro bulb. Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.in/Batten-Compatible-Amazon-Google-Assistant/dp/B07P7JNQ56/

I contacted the manufacturer (not tuya) and they fixed their firmware. I pushed an update and it worked after that.

@thethereza Hey, I'm a bit confused about where you pushed the update? Also which manufacturer did you contact?

I have these bulbs and they use the smart life app

Smart Light Bulb with Soft White... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GT2Q5RW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

After they said it was fixed, I went to the smart life app and there is a way to do a firmware update using it. I contacted teckin to fix it.

I highly recommend flashing your devices with tasmota or esphome then you don't need to worry about smartlife or the tuya cloud.

thethereza commented 3 years ago

How do you do that?
