ZHA - Xiaomi Mijia Wireless Switch, Unable to Connect #37947

The problem

I have tried via Developer Tools / Services with zha.permit (which I've used successfully in the past for Ikea Trådfri devices these are still working and show up as Devices/Entities). I have also tried via Configuration / Integrations / Zigbee Home Automation with Configure and Add (please see log below).

When attempting to pair, I press the LINK button on the Xiaomi switch for 5 seconds, then the LEDs flash. I then let go and they flash again. I then press the button every couple of seconds to keep it awake.

No Device or Entity is added to ZHA and it says that nothing has been found.

What could I be doing wrong?

System: HassOS 4.11

Hardware: Raspberry Pi 3 + RaspBee

Device: Xiaomi Mijia Wireless Switch

@lswee That isn't the full log but from what is posted it looks like the device is attempting to join and then just doesn't reply during the device interview. can you try again and after the pairing starts push the button more frequently to see if that makes a difference. Xiaomi devices can be a bit of a pain to pair.

Ah, my apologies @dmulcahey, what's the best method of seeing the full log? I'm copying everything that can be seen on the page: http://192.168.1.2:8123/config/zha/add?config_entry= under Show Logs.

I've tried many times, using zha.permit and also on the above one, increasing the time up to 180 seconds and pressing the button repeatedly the whole time. The log below is when I tried pressing the Link button ever10 seconds or so and kept on pressing. I'm not really sure what else to try, any suggestions? I had no problems with the Ikea Trådfri stuff and they're still working, so it must be the button. Shame the Xiaomi stuff is such a pain!

You have to press the button more like every second after pairing starts. 10 seconds is way too long.

Once you see the "device joined" message in debug log, keep pressing button every 1.5s

Thanks @dmulcahey and @Adminiuga that’s exactly what I’m doing.

There is a pinhole button on the back labelled ‘LINK’ which makes the LEDs flash when held for a few seconds. I then press the “normal” button repeatedly every 1.5s until it times out.

The other thing I mentioned above was trying to press the LINK button every 10 seconds followed by the normal button every 1.5s.

I’m standing a metre or so away fro the Pi.

I am seeing the exact same behavior with the Xiaomi Mijia Door Window Sensor, including the ignored messeages. This is a TI CC2531 stick with ZHA on 0.113.0b3

Yay, it's now working! Thanks to everyone who helped, @dmulcahey you were right.

I tried with the Configuration / Integrations / Zigbee Home Automation / Configure / Add interface, but I think the timeframe is too short as it added some elements of the device, but not everything, so for example I couldn't see the battery, nor add it to Automations as it had no options. I removed it and then had more success with the below method.

I got it to work by doing the following: Remove the back of the Button (by pushing it anti-clockwise) In Home Assistant, go to Developer Tools / Services In Service put 'zha.permit' In Service Data put 'duration: 180' - this was key to making it work as 60 seconds was too short Click (or tap) 'Call Service' Stand within a few metres of the gateway (in my case a Raspberry Pi 3 + RaspBee) Use something (small and hard enough) to push down the LINK button on the back of the Xiaomi Mijia for 5 seconds. You'll see the LEDs flash, when you release the button you'll see the LEDs flash again. Keep intermittently pressing the LINK pin hole button every couple of seconds for an entire three minutes, you should see the LEDs flash each time you do so.

For me, after the above process the device showed up as an Entity and Device under ZHA. It didn't have all of the information (such as battery status), but as it had paired enough for me to setup an Automation and choose between single and double presses etc. The battery status has now showed up a day later.

I personally found that the best way to check it was paired was to setup an Automation with the trigger of a single button press and then check in the Logs if the Automation was triggered when I pressed the button.
