Tuya Smart IR and its integrated device shows as unsupported #66866

Open auliarshad opened 2 years ago

auliarshad commented 2 years ago

The problem

Hi, I use Tuya app to integrate with my smart devices from BARDI (local smart home company from Indonesia, https://bardi.co.id/ ). Currently I can control my Air Conditioner and TV via their Smart IR device

Image from iOS

However, integrating my HA with Tuya integration shows that the devices is unsupported and have no entities to be controlled. Pardon i'm quite new in HA. Kindly guide me on this. I already provided the diagnostic log above. Thank you

Problem has been solved from my end. Thank you to the team developing the integration. I have full access to temperature and humidity along in my Smart IR + Temp/Humidity sensor

How did you resolve it, as for me same unsupported issue 😞

stepir commented 1 year ago

Exactly

arcaneiceman commented 1 year ago

Updated to latest Home Assistant: Home Assistant 2023.4.4 Supervisor 2023.04.0 Operating System 9.5 Frontend 20230411.1 - latest

This was the model and category of the Smart IR + Temperature & Humidity "model": "S06ProWB3S\u65b0\u754c\u9762", "category": "wnykq", "product_name": "Smart IR"

After this upgrade, I reloaded my Tuya integration and the relevant entities were created and ready to use like other sensors

stepir commented 1 year ago

upgraded to 2023.4.5

I have 4 different IR smart controllers here and none of them are working with HA (using tuya integration). I got this for all of them image

Nadir4832 commented 1 year ago

Hi all,

Any update regarding the TUYA IR integration? Thanks

ausfas commented 1 year ago

Over a year and still waiting, I wish it's taken out and only if HA team is able to make it work across the board then should put it back. At least bigger effected group would have more impact and high priority to fix this issue

mguarienti commented 1 year ago

+1 waiting for native solution

doriska94 commented 1 year ago

same problem

roman-upv commented 1 year ago

+1. Same problem. It is a pity. Many inexpensive devices work with TUYA.

Hello, same problem, please @tuya

stepir commented 1 year ago

any comments @zlinoliver @METISU @frenck ?

merc4derp commented 1 year ago

I got a bunch of these thingies sitting idle for years waiting for this fix.

Tap to run scenes is NOT a workaround for many cases. Tuya's app doesn't support long presses. For devices supported in home assistant you can make scripts that flood button presses to simulate a long press. For unsupported ones you're out of luck.

Can't turn the TV on, can't change AC fan speed, basically everything I'd want to do with these devices requires long presses.

Tanguille commented 1 year ago

+1, I wonder if we have to wait for Tuya to change something or could fix it in HA?

ausfas commented 1 year ago

As I suggested it should be removed for everyone as there is an issue only then it will get attention of the developers to properly fix it.

agree this should not be in core

perhaps we can rise Tuya attention (@zlinoliver) by mentioning other smarIR that doesn't have such limitations? Broadlink in example?

Same issue

georgezip commented 1 year ago

just make a scene in tuya app then you will see it in HA (scenes and automations), now you can for example convert it to a switch

Luk164 commented 1 year ago

Yeah that is a known workaround, but many of us would prefer true support, like if you set IR blaster for A/C it should show up as one, with all the relevant controls

I agree, also this workaround sometimes doesn't work either, for example I can make a scene with roller shutter - close button, but when try to make another with open button there is a "System error" in SamrtLife app :(

xposionn commented 1 year ago

facing the same issue with AC.

marfucio commented 1 year ago

+1 Same issue

renatoptr commented 1 year ago

One more same issue with ac

Crawfish6133 commented 12 months ago

Same issue with AC. The tap to run workaround won't work as you will need to create one for each temperature. Creating a button to simply reduce temp is not possible.

esalgado commented 12 months ago

At the end I decided to create an Esphome device, just a D1 Mini with an IR shield and an DHT22 temperature sensor, to create a climate entity. It is better than tuya because it captures the IR sent from the remote also, and notifies home assistant of the manual actions like increase temperature, power on or off, that you don't get with the Tuya IR blaster for AC

For Tuya, use localtuya instead of official Tuya add-on, climate devices work fine (thermostats), etc

Also burdened by this inexplicably lacking functionality. Rather new here; is ignoring a large part of your userbase, screaming for a solution to -what appears to be- a simple problem, for years on end -- without so much as a single reply, considered 'normal'...? (i.e. what is the point of this place then?)

lex0013 commented 10 months ago

support, make this function, so it blocks the purchase of new devices.

RackerCRO commented 10 months ago

+1 here. Smart IR device for my air con doesn't work also. Didn't check before I bought it :(

n00b12345 commented 10 months ago

+1 from me too. Tiny Tuya works with IR devices. Wonder if that can help.

jamespoore commented 9 months ago

Brilliant, so this is why I can't get my Tuya IR/RF jobby working in HomeAssistant. Oh look, 10s of other people with the same issue, bravo Tuya/HA team. The lack of response here from anyone is very poor.

esalgado commented 9 months ago

Hi all, I am wondering if this is the solution:

https://github.com/tuya/tuya-smart-life

I have not yet tested it myself

ausfas commented 9 months ago

Still unsupported issue

I don't think Tuya/HA team owe you anything.

ausfas commented 9 months ago

At least HA do, they should remove this integration and then everyone will scream and that's how it will get fixed

Hi all, I am wondering if this is the solution:

https://github.com/tuya/tuya-smart-life

I have not yet tested it myself

I've tried. It doesn't work, it says device unsupported. Still looking for better solution without relying on cloud.
