Ikea Tradfri lights not anymore reflected in HA #83348

Open erd82 opened 1 year ago

erd82 commented 1 year ago

The problem

Since a few weeks most of my Ikea Tradfri lights are not anymore reflected correctly in Home Assistant.

For example:

  1. Even if the light is physically on, HA shows it as off. When I now switch the light in HA on, nothing happens. If I then switch it off again, the light gets physically dark.
  2. For another light it is vice versa.

I have been having the similar issues with my Ikea hub too for some time now. Not really sure when it started (few months ago?). A lot of the time i'm unable to switch on/off my lights. When a light is on, HA says it's off. switching the button does not seem to do anything. The problem can also be "inversed". Sometimes i'm still able to change brightness of that particular light. If i can be of any assistance, let me know.

I experienced the same.

I suppose it's the same bug so I won't open another one. My setup:

The bulb is correctly recognized by HA and it works perfectly. I can turn it on and off, switch between white and RGB, change color, and change the white temperature. All using both the web interface and the phone app.

I bought a Styrbar button to help me control the bulb physically. I had to pair the button twice. The first time to make it being seen by HA. After I paired it pressing 4 times its internal pairing button and waiting for it to appear in HA. There is only one information sent by the button to ZHA and it's the battery level. Basically the same thing that happened in this video even if the button is the previous rounded version. The second time to make the button actually control the bulb. I kept it pressed for 10 seconds near the bulb and they paired immediately after I released the button (the bulb started flashing). At the end I can correctly control the bulb using the physical button exactly as IKEA intended and at the same time using HA.

When I use the physical button the GUI inside HA doesn't reflect the current status of the bulb, though. If using HA I set the bulb as red (255, 0, 0) with max brightness and then I change the color using the physical button the GUI keep showing the bulb is red. When I instead change the brightness this is correctly updated on HA.

I'll try investigating more but I wanted to leave here some breadcrumbs for future me as well for everyone else.

The Problem still occurs. It happens very sporadic.

Example: Sometimes lights are not switched on when the tradfri lights are not available once the motion sensor detects motion.

Are there any updates??

Same issue here. Toggle actions won’t work, on and off actions still work. No errors in log file.

Had the same issue again today.

Looks like this issue isn't taken serious. So, I am going away from Ikea step by step where I can. When buying new smart bulbs or other lights, I will not choose Ikea as it is not fully stable. Isn't nice if you can't rely on the lights especially when using motion sensors etc.

Mariusthvdb commented 1 month ago

I've had endless unsolved issues with the Ikea integration ever since the maintainer stepped out and it was not really looked after anymore

However, I changed from the first gen Gateway to a Dirigera, and have that integrated via Homekit device core integration.

Never had a single issue after that, rock solid. Bonus: we get binary sensors on the motion sensors. Also events are created for the buttons.

lookup some of the closed issues I filed before for some history
