Selected entity not highlighted in entity picker

Describe the issue you are experiencing

When opening the combobox in the entity picker, sometimes the selected entity is highlighted, and sometimes it is not (even for the same entity).

Entity always highlighted

1. Open an entity picker (like entities card)
2. Select a few entities
3. Check that it is highlighted or not. ...

I guess the inconsistency I'm seeing is that the entity only stays highlighted until the next render.

Once the control rerenders once the next time after the entity is picked, the highlighting is lost.

If you exit the view and come back to it, it will never be highlighted.
