Recommended way of running deCONZ #19115

Feedback

I suggest to start this text with a link to https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/ and to mention it is not necessary to use the deCONZ Integration on a RPi with https://www.home-assistant.io/installation/raspberrypi and ZigBee ConBeeII USB-dongle attached while installing HA.

URL

https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz/

Version

2021.8.8

Additional information

I first installed deCONZ Integration, but on starting it an error was generated: 'Missing required option 'device' in deCONZ (core_deconz)'. I got lost installing ssh, not finding apt-get (which is not in HA OS), etc. Not knowing that all this effort is not necessary. Maybe also mention on https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha/ an entry on using RPi with HA OS and deCONZ ConBeeII: do not install deCONZ Integration using this setup. I don't know whether the same simple setup is possible with other ZigBee-dongles.

Hey there @dmulcahey, @adminiuga, mind taking a look at this feedback as it has been labeled with an integration (zha) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks! (message by CodeOwnersMention)

Information on how to run ZHA with a Conbee should be contained on the ZHA integration page just as integration documentation for deCONZ should be about deCONZ.

That makes sense. Therefore, I suggest that a note be made on both pages about the collaboration between the two. Nico

There is no collaboration between the two. You can also buy a Hue... Home Assistant just integrations with multiple solutions.
