Refresh of Homematic Documentation #29696

Feedback

Hello,

I was trying to setup my automation using documentation provided and I had no issues.

However, I have realized that some items are not up to date. Documentation mentions CCU2 device, but CCU3 is actual for many years.

In addition, I was not able to setup reboot automation (section "Detecting lost connections"), I assume it is outdated.

Thank you!

Hey there @pvizeli, @danielperna84, mind taking a look at this feedback as it has been labeled with an integration (homematic) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks!

Code owner commands Code owners of `homematic` can trigger bot actions by commenting: - `@home-assistant close` Closes the feedback. - `@home-assistant rename Awesome new title` Renames the feedback. - `@home-assistant reopen` Reopen the feedback. - `@home-assistant unassign homematic` Removes the current integration label and assignees on the feedback, add the integration domain after the command.

It's actually saying CCU/Homegear in the beginning, not mentioning any version of the CCU. Later on it gives some additional information specific to the CCU3.

As there are plenty of options on how to run HomeMatic (CCU1+2+3, Homegear, RaspberryMatic, Debmatic, ...), I don't think it's reasonable to list every possible option. People that use RaspberryMatic typically know, that it's a different form of CCU. And people using a CCU3 have no reason to believe the integration won't work with their setup just because the docs don't exlicitly mention it.

That being said, I highly recommend to switch to the new integration, which can be installed and updated via HACS. It's a lot better than the default integration, and it does all that reboot-stuff automatically.

All good, thank you for quick response. I just wanted to provide feedback. Idea was not to list all the options, as you said it does not make sense, but rather update examples for CCU3 as that one is actual. Again, just a feedback.

I was not able to make the reboot part to work so I though I will let community know.

To be hones I do not have enough spare time to get more knowledge about HA and perhaps contribute and that is also reason why I did not go HACS way, it requires more efforts.
