Doc on "Defining a custom polling interval" doesn't specify how to indicate the polling interval #31470

I'm trying to deal with the situation in the example here of only polling for Solar Panel data during the day - actually I'd like 2 rates, one for during the day and one for at night. The documentation explains how to add a trigger (eg. sun up/sun down), how to initiate the polling (call homeassistant.update_entity) but it doesn't indicate (nor can I figure out) how to create a repeating interval.
