I am experiencing the same issue on RHEL9 as a workstation. I don't know enough about gnome and writing extensions to help much, but let me know if I can provide any information.

Exact same issue for me too. I think it used to work on RHEL9.0 but had broken since one of the point releases.

These are very popular distros so a fix would be greatly appreciated!

The current RHEL9.3 clones are running 40.4 but the actual gnome-shell package now has the 40.10 version?

This is still a problem to date. RHEL 9.3, Centos Stream 9, Rocky Linux 9.3, and all RHEL-compatible 9.x.
