It would be cool if there was a keyboard shortcut (perhaps the key 'o') that toggled between the opacity values 0.5 and 1.0 for the 3d geometry.
We talked a lot about the difficulties of doing 'proper' transparency --- I think it's fine to just do 'average pixel' transparency for now.
