neverEndingReddit with old.reddit.com with (unsupported) Waterfox 56.2.6 #5061

Never Ending Reddit in 5.14.3 seems to be:

Worked around by stepping back to 5.12.8.

Environment

Waterfox 56.2.6, and if the enhancement unicorns are not yet raising eyebrows at my use of an unsupported browser with an old interface to Reddit, they should whinny with laughter at my use of an OS where Waterfox is no longer maintained:

All things considered, I expect this issue to be closed without comment but (don't ask … don't get) it'll be real nice if the rainbow unicorn hooves at honestbleeps or elsewhere can skip across the code pasture and kick up a fix. A Waterfox future without neverEndingReddit is possibly too horrible to contemplate.

If someone is able to submit a fix that's not disruptive to the codebase as-is, doesn't add cruft / technical debt, I'm certainly open to it ... we just don't have the resources to prioritize this above other things (bugs, redesign compatibility, etc) right now.. and of course we can't guarantee to maintain / test that fix as the core team.
