I followed the instructions step-by-step. Is the Mirror API unavailable for me?

I talked with the glass team. Looks like access isn't going to be available
until developers start receiving glass, hopefully it's sooner than that though
since glass is really just a mirror client, we could start building without it.

Hi All,

The Mirror API is currently in a limited developer preview. Specifically, we're
starting off by restricting access to Explorers who have Glass.

Why? Because Glass is a unique platform that is mobile but fundamentally
different than existing mobile platforms in both design and use. To develop
great experiences and effectively test them, you need to have Glass.

So please be patient while we conduct this preview. While you wait, explore the
docs, read the sample code, and take a run around the playground :)

I was selected during #ifihadglass. Any idea about when we will get info to buy
our glasses?

So basically there is absolutely no way to develop for this platform as yet
unless you have a google glass device? And no developer from outside of the US
can get a device yet? I jsut want to make absoltyely clear that this is what
you are saying?

Original comment by prhodesl...@gmail.com on 17 Apr 2013 at 6:43

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
@prhodeslegend Correct. We're not ready for everyone to start developing on the
API yet, but we thought you might want to check out the documentation and
sample code in the mean time.

Couldn't you release a fake API so we can test software?
Something like a virtual API. It could be used for sandboxes test Btw.

I want API access too.. ;(

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I wholeheartedly agree with comment 16, can we please have a virtual API? I ask
as if I cannot get the glasses for a while, which would seem to be the case
being that I am in Australia, I would very much like to have a virtual API
output to at least show potential customers the possibilities they could have?
I am trying to get a lot of buy-in within Western Australia with some key
customers, namely mining and education, however it is incredibly difficult to
show how these things will work and get them to invest with NO
interactivity/output?!

I also have an interested client in Canada. Mining Industry too. Want too see
if we could do some real time BI with glasses.

The platform seems really interesting and I have many new ideas of use (a dozen
actually). So, when can I start to play? can i buy the glass? Can I at least
have a notification of when ready?

mimming@google.com, Anyway there can be a sandbox version of Mirror API
service(as suggested Virtual Mirror API in comment #16) for those of us that
are unfortunate "wanna be-Explorers" ;)? Thanks!

If you want to play with a virtual "Mirror" API, have a look at this:

Hi 4graham, I appreciate your comment on this matter. Will I need Mirror API
access for that? Also is there a .NET version of this?

Original comment by prhodesl...@gmail.com on 3 May 2013 at 6:00

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
You do not need mirror access to play with that and there is no .net version as
its designed to run on Google app engine.

I had this problem too (I am in the Explorer program and have my Glass unit)
and so called the Guide phone number. They weren't sure how to handle it, but
have promised to pass it along to someone who can help get me access to the
API, hopefully in the next day or so.

My guide was able to help. It turned out I needed to be added to the Mirror API
Group first, but my Groups setting didn't allow administrators to add me.

I'm also not able to enable the Mirror API. I'm a Glass Explorer and have
already received Glass.
Also: (from comments above)
1) I never received a "Guide" phone number. (only a purchase receipt)
2) I'm not sure what group settings need to be adjusted to be added to the
Mirror API Group. (in fact, I can't seem to find a "Mirror API" group.)
