It's Bricked? #2

I've flashed official wa850 version from openwrt site to my wa854. And it doesn't have lan port and also wifi hasn't been enabled. What should i do?

if your router is wa854 version 1, then flash https://github.com/hontz1/openwrt_d-link-TL-WA854RE_V1-TL-WA850RE_V1/blob/main/openwrt-ath79-tiny-tplink_tl-wa854re-v1-squashfs-factory.bin
wifi will be enabled.

other versions won't work with this / search OpenWrt for your version labelled on your wa854 sticker at back.

or if your router is wa854 version 1, and you want different packages than mine or don't trust me. you have to

build OpenWrt https://openwrt.org/docs/guide-developer/toolchain/use-buildsystem this will take you about one week, if you never did it before :) and you need linux or a virtual linux machine.

and during build process (after "make menuconfig" and before "make" edit some files as the https://github.com/hontz1/openwrt_d-link-TL-WA854RE_V1-TL-WA850RE_V1/blob/main/README.md says.

try the button to activate wlan-maybe it won't work. then try reset. maybe there is a failsafe mode from tp-link.

it could be bricked and you can only repair it with serial. sorry but still some openwrt developers reacted unfriendly and think they are better Freifunker. that's why it is still bugged in source.

Thank you dear developer. It's bricked as you said. Because wlan doesn't activate and resetting not working also. I'll try serial if i can.

i am not developer. serial you can try but i would buy a similar used device for 5 €. take Atheros chipset and not chinese mediatek (look at the versions). i think this is the main discussion in openwrt nowdays. you also get fritzbox 7412 here in Germany for 5€. it has more ram and flash. so you dont have to build on your own. maybe the antenna is a bit worse than wr841nd but still good acceptable. take american wifi-chip also for your mobile phone. they do work better together and have less errors.
