Dear all

I upgraded to Mac OS Catalina BETA (3)

since then, the font / text in the dicom display of HOROS cannot be read anymore (font is large in some kind of ghost font, impossible to read)

any ideas how to fix this ?

Thanks !!

I am also having same problem. Please help

Same issue. any idea ?

glowblue commented 4 years ago

This issue affects the official Catalina release as well as the beta. The corrupted text looks sort of like Japanese.

image

In Preferences/General, under languages, it lists English twice as well as Japanese (Japan). My only preferred language in System Preferences is English (US).

I tried to uncheck Japanese (Japan), close and restart Horos, and nothing changed. Then when I tried to open Preferences/General again, it just showed a blank window. I had to completely delete everything related to Horos and reinstall in order to be able to access it again.

Looks like I'll be going back to OsiriX Lite for a while, since it doesn't have this problem.

A possible solution is described in this thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/horos-project/YqymugR-r1Q

Someone in that thread suggested plugging in an external monitor, and that does fix it. Interestingly, once you do that, the annotations look fine on BOTH monitors. But if you unplug the other monitor, they get garbled again.

It's not a great solution for me since I travel between hospitals and don't always have a monitor to plug in to. But better than nothing.

Thx. No solution on the google group, only reported problems.

Same problem here!

We switched to OsiriX Lite, which works surprisingly well.

Same problem after updating to Catalina (Macbook pro 2019 13) . Is there any chance to fix it? Is development of Horos already dead?

FabriceHx commented 4 years ago

From what I understand, we need to switch from OpenGL to Metal. Which file should I modify to activate Metal in Horos? I believe that OsiriX is using Metal to solve this issue.

I have the same problem but for me it was even before I updated to Catalina.

Have you tried to do it? Did it work?

I started to change the OpenGL functions in DCMView file, to switch to a Metal shader. For now, it doesn't compile...

I opened issue 515 (https://github.com/horosproject/horos/issues/515) with a link to a potential code fix for this.
