EPL and GPL are not compatible an both directions #10

Hello,

just had a look into this interresting project. To my knowledge EPL and
GPL,AGPL are in both directions not compatible. This means that it is not
allowed to link GPL,AGPL code against EPL code or the other way around.

I whanted to use it in Eclipse as some code in the project. However, this is
not legal.

Best, Michael

Hi Michael,

it's some time ago that I tried to wrap my head around this licence
stuff...crazy world :)
At this time I came to the comclusion that it's possible to write AGPL based
Eclipse plugins - but I should have documented my findings somewhere. I have to
do the research again and there where a lot of different opinions about this
topic.

You are right - it isn't possible to take my code and throw it into an EPL
project but this is a different topic.

Currently I think this project is not advanced enough to be of real interest to
other projects. Some steps like the Variable Analysis are simple not ready yet
and my time is really restricted.

I would like to postpone this licence stuff till I have a version 1.0 and than
I will reevaluate this licence issues. I just havn't the time and I will not
simply throw some other licence model (that I also don't really understand,
even some legal departments have problems with this licence topics) onto the
code.

Cheers André
