*amenity=drinking_water -a cup or something
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:pump pump=no -traditional water_well pump= manual/powered -icon of pump handle thing [default to traditional well?]
acess... yes=brighter and restricted access colors are not as bright?
*amenity=drinking_water -a cup or something
man, the question was specifically for man_made=water_well
, do we have a specific icon for man_made=water_well
+ drinking_water=yes
, idem for man_made=water_well
+ pump=*
? :)
amenity=drinking_water is the more important drinking point.
I have problems with the accuracy of claiming a well is or isnt for drinking. would it be possible to add a halo or something if [drinking_water=yes] on a well?
would it be possible to add a halo or something if [drinking_water=yes] on a well?
This of something else, but we need to render the info, yes
'pump= manual' http://thenounproject.com/noun/pump/#icon-No12847
Trying a new system.
First, what is actually implemented: we just "extract" the information we define as more important.
For example, if the water well has drinking_water=yes
, so we just display this information, and we don't care if there is a pump, we don't know if this drinking water comes from a well or what else, etc.:
If we don't know about the water but there is a pump, so we display the pump (at the moment, just manual, but the auto should be done if we decide to keep this system), etc.:
and if there is no drinking water, and no pump, just a bucket:
I like this system because it keeps the icons simple and more obvious, and the important information is clearly pointed out. But in the meantime we lose information. So lets see another option, to be discussed.
So here we try to keep these three informations: drinking water yes or no, water well yes or no, pump yes or no, and if yes manual or auto.
drinking water:
water well with no pump and no drinking water:
water well with no pump but drinking water:
water well with manual pump but no drinking water:
water well with manual pump and drinking water:
water well with auto pump but no drinking water:
water well with auto pump and drinking water:
Feedback?
(Keep in mind that we are working in 16px net, following the maki design guidelines )
I agree with the simple approach, as I also don't think information on well drawn water is easily determined or consistent. Only thing I am not sure about is that the icon you have for drinking_water=yes looks the same as what amenity=drinking_water would be. And those are very different. The store that distributes and fills gallons of drinking water is different than a hand pump which can supply potable water.
If we stay on simple scheme:
for amenity=drinking_water
:
for man_made=water_well
+ drinking_water=yes
:
Thoughts?
I like this! pump= does not matter much after drinking_water=yes is claimed. And this gives a nice separation btwn the two. After that i like the hand-pump and the bucket. +1
For me, The most important is to see the water point amenity=drinking_water
I will prefer to see a different Icon between water point and man_made=water_well such as this icon or the original one: https://f.cloud.github.com/assets/146023/702342/1daa8fd8-dd90-11e2-8277-37a847a20485.png
After I thing we need to separate " The store that distributes and fills gallons of drinking water is different than a hand pump which can supply potable water." and make a different icon
As you have made with the water factory man_made = water_works or perhaps use the same ?
As I am more confident about this small shop than a water pump to said if it is a drinking water
Simple scheme is better as we are not yet 10 millions osm mapper to update those informations on the ground : )
I think that the initial second proposal was a good solution to keep the information while remaining readable when the pump-related information is important for anyone caring about wash projects within the perspective of maintaining or upgrading an existing network of watering objects-
Very important one. We should take care of:
