I have been trying to get the coastline from OSM to use in QGIS but cant seem to find it. Its not in geofabrik download and I am trying through hot-exports but after an hour it still has not made an downloads. Also the postgis server at AIFDR has decided not to connect - even though the test works. I know our internet is currently very slow, but I dont think its the sole reason. Please help!

Kate sent us this link last week: A source of coastlines: http://openstreetmapdata.com/data/coastlineshttp://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fopenstreetmapdata.com%2Fdata%2Fcoastlines&h=JAQFaQn4LAQHfGhIC8Pu8a7-w-z67U7qh-E2RKQgTX-dOTA&s=1 Coastlines | OpenStreetMap Data openstreetmapdata.com Linestrings for coastlines. Long linestrings are split into smaller chunks (with no more than 100 points) that are easier and faster to work with. http://openstreetmapdata.com/data/coastlines Have you tried this one? If so, I can go back to the drawing board.

I've downloaded osm file through JOSM and opened it with OSM Plugin in QGIS, and there shouldn't be a problem. Another problem is when you download the coastline, if you need bigger area to download, you can download osm file through JOSM with plugin called Mirror Download, it allows you to download big area.
