@twzkxkan Thank you very much for the pr.
I am reluctant to include a link to f-droid and I think it is in our users best interest to learn to use and rely on the google play store for a few reasons.
Is there a compelling case to be made to overcome what I see as downsides to also including the f-droid link?
Edit: that sounds like to much, i just mean are there reasons i do not know about why f-droid should be offered as an option because I would rather not.
I added it because I noticed the OsmAnd page also offered it. Should I reword similarly that it is a community supported version?
I think it is in our users best interest [to use Google Play]
That is a fair argument and why I added F-Droid as an option, not a replacement.
are there reasons i do not know about why f-droid should be offered
It makes it available to anyone who cannot or chooses not to access the Google Play Store. In China and other countries Google services are blocked or experience service interruptions. You also need to create an account for Google Play and accept having your activity perpetually tracked. More information about F-Droid is available here.
This is a pull request long overdue... What shall we do? Merge or close?
By reading the arguments of @ghost I think we can merge.
