rstat.us is dead slow for me #542

My irc bouncer is dead so I'm posting this here. Wherever rstat.us is hosted it's dead slow in Germany. No fun going through the timeline or reading world.

Heroku is having issues today... is it slow just today or has it been slow for a while?

burningTyger commented 12 years ago

I started using rstatus again yesterday or so when I stumbled on it after my Firefox upgrade. The problem with Heroku is that it tends to be slower in Europe.

Do you happen to know of a ruby hosting service that performs better in Europe? I'm up for setting up another server, but I'm clueless as to what host would be better.

I'm using redhat's openshift (http://openshift.redhat.com) but they're on Amazon as well and I'm not sure rstatus will fare any better with them but you could try. You might even get away with using all three free instances including a 1.5GB MongoDB (might be wrong with the exact size). They do a tremendous job and my apps do fairly well there. Also you get superior support via irc and if you tell them your plans you might get even more for less.

If you want to try them out let me know so I can help you. It's a bit confusing coming from Heroku but in the end it's pretty much the same setup.

Thank you! I will give it a try.

+1 for OpenShift. I think it will be great to have at least a mirror on OpenShift.
