All of the join links should lead to this page. We should put a very high level overview of the most important details here, like the verification process.

Task: Decide what is the most vital information to give someone before they join the server, and if there's any other pages to add to give more details.

Also, figure out how to distribute links and perhaps set up analytics.

This is the page that actually directs people to Discord to join the server.

I wanted to create this middle page for two reasons:

• Some people may not even read the homepage and will just click to join. This is our chance to present vital information (such as the verification process, and that this is a self-help server) before actually handing them off to Discord.
• We can direct ads, etc. to this page and collect better analytics on who is joining the server. This could also potentially be used to detect spam bots.

Here are the sections to the page I propose:

• Tagline: A very brief call-to-action and a message hinting at the verification process.
  • Off the top of my head, under "Are you ready to join the server?" we can have, "Click the link below to start chatting in #casual. Once you're ready for the rest of the channels, you can begin the verification process"
  • We should also have a button here for people who want to just jump in
• Rules (perhaps a brief overview with a link to a page)
• Verification: Highlight once more that there is one final step to be taken to gain access to the full server. Perhaps introduce it as a tiering system.

One other idea:

Instead of having an invite link on this page, we can link to a page (perhaps using AWS Lambda) that has the following flow for the user:

• Sign in with Discord (if not already done)
• Authorize House of Misfits
• [CAPTCHA can go here if needed]
• A bot DMs the user with a personalized, one-time-use invite link

This can be used to prevent bots from joining the server, and maybe even replace the verification process (if we want to open that discussion).
