As a response to this comment, I converted a large part of the original website to markdown, which can be hosted on github pages. Any example that required a live server (e.g. the live chat) could not be converted, because github pages can only host static markdown or html.
To enable github pages, go into the repository's settings, scroll down to the "Github Pages" section, and under "Source" choose "master branch /docs folder". The page will reload, and the website will be available under https://housleyjk.github.io/ws-rs/. An example of the static website running can be seen here.
