Update:
If I copy /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/stretchly_stretchly.desktop
to another location and run it with gtk-launch stretchly_stretchly.desktop
, I get the same behaviour as /snap/bin/stretchly
That is to say it pauses for a very brief moment, then crashes. I do not get the
gtk-launch: no such application /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/stretchly_stretchly.desktop
error like I usually do running it from it's original location.
Here's what I did as a hacky temporary work-around:
/snap/stretchly/6/meta/gui/icon.png
mkdir -p ~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly
cp /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/stretchly_stretchly.desktop ~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/
~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/icon_fixed.png
~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/stretchly_stretchly.desktop
with the following:[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Stretchly
GenericName=Break Reminder
Comment=The break time reminder app
Icon=/home/denver/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/icon_fixed.png
Exec=/snap/stretchly/current/stretchly %u
Terminal=false
StartupWMClass=Stretchly
Categories=Utility;
ln -s ~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/stretchly_stretchly.desktop ~/.local/share/applications
cp ~/Applications/PATCHES/stretchly/stretchly_stretchly.desktop ~/.config/autostart/
chmod -x ~/.config/autostart/stretchly_stretchly.desktop # don't make executable, all other files weren't executable either
...
Not a solution of course, but hopefully helps anyone else on Debian 10 experiencing the same issues in the meantime :)
I don't use snap, but it's possible there is some bug in snap or how snaps are created. I am planning to make a new release relatively soon, so let's see if that helps.
Hey @DrTexx , can you try with 1.8.1?
I'll give it a crack now and report back! :)
@hovancik No luck unfortunately, same behaviour :(
Seems that gtk-lunch
only can run apps from specific directories? https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/606021
This might also help with that: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1150609/snap-installed-applications-not-showing-on-launcher
Stretchly is electron same as Slack
Is this still issue with the latest?

Operating System Version
Debian 10 (Buster) GNU/Linux (4.19.0-18-amd64)
Reproduction steps
Expected Behavior
Stretchly launches without fault
Actual Behavior
Stretchly fails to launch and no errors are shown.
I cannot find the application running in htop either so it doesn't appear to still be running silently.
