So this software is very interesting.
It looks like you are free of the GPL. AFAIK, All of the other versions of the J1 depend on GForth and its gpl license. You may want to highlight that this is gpl free software for the J1.

It is a good reason for it to spread.

This is looking really good. I have been spending a lot of time with the Mecrisp Ice, and giving talks about J1 variants, including yours. What I need next is a GPL-free eforth, and here it is.

In the past the README here was not quite clear to me, now it looks like exactly what I need.

The readme says that you want to make this more H2 compatible. What I really want is something more compatible with the various versions of mecrisp. They have both 16 and 32 instruction variants. Sadly verilog has won the popularity contest.

Please keep up the great work.

Thanks! I've been working on my SUBLEQ eForth projects for a while, I don't know when I'll get to look at this again. I've gone off the GPL for now and I've licensed all my projects (or as much as I can) under more liberal licenses.
