Hello ,

i have just installed MacOS Sierra for testing reason and found that Clicktoplugin would not find any plugins at all.

It seems that its functionality is blocked here somehow.

The developer states

Due to Apple’s new development policies, version 3.2 is the final version of ClickToPlugin.

Could you please explain, in what consist the Development policies from Apple that block further development of ClickToPlugin?

Thank you so much, i think i am going to downgrade again ;)

ISTR that the policy was that it would have to be signed for distribution, which would require a paid developer subscription, which does not make sense for free software. You can download it and build it yourself, and then install it in Safari, to get around this.

The other reason is that software like CTP no longer necessary, for perhaps two reasons. First a lot of its functionality is now built into Safari. Plugin blocking and click-to-load in particular. Second the web is moving away from plugins, to using HTML5 video – all major sites do this now, that I know of, many have for years. By 2020 they will all have had to, as Flash is being removed altogether from browsers by then.
