Task Force Coworking Hours #19

Closed tkphd closed 3 years ago

tkphd commented 3 years ago

Dear HPC Carpentry Task Force members & interested parties,

As discussed in the kick-off meeting, we will have coworking hours every week, alternating between times that are more convenient for Europe and more convenient for the Americas. The first session will occur next week, organized by @psteinb and @ocaisa. The second session is the following week, organized by @tkphd and @reida.

We have created a CodiMD page to organize & record the coworking hours. While the time of day has been set for both, the day of the week has not been. Please visit the page, and use the links there and below to register your preferred meeting days. Once that's settled, we'll create and publish links to the virtual meeting venues.

Thanks, and see you soon!

Major correction: the American-centric coworking hour starts at 9 PM UTC, not 1 PM. You can check your representative local time (the date is being decided) for the two options here:

Thank you to all who participated in the polls and provided feedback in other ways. As you can probably tell, there will not be a coworking hour this week. Instead, we believe it makes more sense to host coworking hours on the same day, albeit different times, every other week. Therefore, we intend to hold at least two coworking hours next Thursday, 1 October, 2020:

Call in on the swcarpentry Slack channel, #hpc-carpentry! For details, and notes on the distinction between Coordination and Coworking meetings, please see our CodiMD notes.

Reminder: we will have another Coworking Hour today at 21:00 UTC. Sabry Razick will walk us through GitHub Projects, then we can spend some time looking through the open issues to set appropriate flags and possibly get to work on a couple. The plan is to test out video on on the swcarpentry Slack channel, #hpc-carpentry, to see whether and how high the user limit is.

If that fails, we'll fall back to this Meet: https://meet.google.com/mzy-jjvd-iqr

Thanks to everyone who participated! Slack Video seemed to work great, we did not need the Meet fall-back. Notes are up -- hope to see everyone next time, two weeks from now.
