This list looks pretty open-ended to me. Are we trying to build some awesome list or even a list of "everything that's useful"? :) Maybe we could have a closer definition of the requirements for each package in this chapter. What kind of packages do we not want to mention here? Some factors could be the purpose, degree of maturity, popularity, compatibility, ...

Here is a rough attempt at categorizing these ideas:

• shell tools (Algernon, WindowAcrobatics, Vivide?)
• programming tools (Refactoring, MSR, SwaLint, Sandblocks?, Babylonian?)
• collaborative programming tools (Squot, Metacello, smalltalkCI)
• libraries and frameworks: adapter (OSProcess, FFI, CommandShell, ExternalWebBrowser; JSON, Neo-CSV, SIXX)
