I just noticed: Upon morph additions, the layers need to be reordered as well. See the attached screenshot:

Why the morph is at the very top of the layers and on the morph is on top of all other morphs? Seems like it is consistent

But doing Order -> Bring to Front will consistently move the layer of that morph to the bottom of the list.
When the ordering discussion is resolved
